Yesterday afternoon I had a quick bath and everything was fine. About an hour an a half later, my partner went to have a bath but the hot water suddenly stopped working. It was coming out ice cold. The heating stopped aswell. We bled the radiators and everything. There's also a little nozzle underneath that you turn to the right to get the 'needle' back into the 'green area' when it's at the correct pressure. We've reset it and even popped down the basement to make sure we haven't tripped a switch or anything. Nothing's working. Any other ideas on how to get the heating and hot water back on? It says Alpha HE BC33 on the front if that's any help.

Thanks

I can't see a pilot light anywhere. This boiler's only 7/8 months old. We get instant hot water and heating.

It sounds like the boiler overheated. Check to see if the red neon light (the top one) is on or flashing, if it is, turn the selector switch to reset hold there for about 5 seconds and then put it back to hot water or heating and hot water. This *should* solve the problem. Check also that the bottom neon is flashing at 5 second intervals, if not there is a problem with the power supply to the boiler, make sure the isolation switch (should be located near the boiler) is on and try replacing the fuse (3 amp).

The following link is for the user instructions (in case you haven't got them) -

The boiler is under warranty so if resetting doesn't work give Alpha a call on - 0870 3001964, you will need to give them the serial number of the boiler which should be located on the hinged cover that you pull down to get to the controls.

Hope this helps

If there's enough pressure & everything else appears to be ok then it's most likely your sensor [ older units had a thing called a thermocouple] that 'tells' the boiler to light up. Have you checked to see if the 'pilot' light is still lit?
If you've got other gas appliances [presume the boiler's gas] & they're still working & there's no pilot light - then the sensor/switch controlling this would be main suspect. Also ensure there's no flue blockage. Safety cut off can be caused by detection of exhaust gases unable to properly vent away. Hope this helps & normal service resumes asap

Could be loss of electrical supply, check for the switch close to the boiler, make sure it's on, replace the fuse (under the little cover) with a 3 amp, then switch on and try it again. If the fuse goes, then you have an electrical fault somewhere in the system.

If you can't see the pilot light then that is the problem. You will find instructions on relighting the boiler on the drop down flap on the boiler, or if not, you have to remove the front cover to find them.

it sounds like you have a combi boiler and if you have bleed the radiators you will have to get the system up to operating pressure i believe the system has to run up to 1.2 -2.1 bar. if the problem is still there it may be that its not your boiler but your timer is not working its normally them that go wrong or go onto the web and search the boiler details on front and also your timer make hope this helps
