alcohol, or marijauna? why is one legal, and not the other? why do you think one should be, or the other?

ever hear of someone driving a car onto a sidewalk, killing a bunch of people? i have, quite a few times, and they were ALL DRUNK, none of them under the influence of pot, so what does that tell you?

lets see, carol, i disagree, if the govt. can allow tobacco to be grown, and processed into deadly cigarettes, cigars, etc., then the same can be done for marijuana...

Marijuana is better in my opinion. Yes, both have bad physical side effects but alcohol has more. Yes, both are physically and psychologically addictive, but alcohol is more. Alcohol is also technically a depressant poison. You can easily drink yourself to death. I have never heard of anyone smoking themselves to death. Alcohol makes many people violent (well-known fact) while marijuana (in the vast majority of people) has the opposite effect. Honestly I think alcohol should be outlawed and marijuana legalized, but they should at LEAST treat them the same! Make them both legal or both illegal. Extreme double standard.

Alcohol is a steely and often slow creeping drug that can take complete control over a person's mind, body and soul. OK..how come the lengthy answer....because I saw it take the life of someone dear to me. I was helpless to help...Marijuana, I have little to comment due to the fact that I have no personal experience. However, I am certain it's effects are not even measurable to the long term problems brought on by alcohol abuse. There is no possible way alcohol can be "policed" to the point that was tried during prohibition. It didn't work then and it won't work now. Marijuana, on the other hand, although a drug, is forbidden. That doesn't figure. I believe if Marijuana were legalized with in strict guidelines, it would reduce it's allure and eventually become less "sought after" with less crime related issues and smuggling problems. But I don't write the "songs", sort to speak...so there you have it.

Alcohol is worse than marijuana. After smoking a J, you never see a person acting so out of their normal self ... that they are sometimes unrecognizable. So many crimes are committed under the influence of alcohol ... and this does not hold true for marijuana smokers, as they are too scared to do anything risky.
The reason alcohol is legal, is that it can be controlled and regulated by the government ... they have to get their fare share of the profits you know. :( The government can't control the production of marijuana like they can alcohol, and thus, get their share of the profit ... so, they simply make it illegal.

i have to say alcohol is worse, both do self harm
but alchohol seems to cause more harm to others round about them, never seen anyone whos had a smoke in a fight-lets face it, you cant be bothered!! neither should be used when driving tho, and the reason it isnt legal is bcoz any government wouldnt be able to regulate it, tax etc, anyone could just grow it and so they wouldnt get any revenue from it, here in scotland they patted us on the head, it isnt legal, but small possesion has been decriminilised, you dont get arrested for personal possesion now,

Alcohol is better coz it doesn't give another person a headache who happens to be sitting next to the person drinking it, marijuana is worse coz people go crazy because of it. Alcohol is legal coz it is used for celebrations, like when Jesus turned water into wine and alcohol does not stink.

ok to tell you the truth i do both
but alcohol you got to have id but weed its illegal cause its imported from mayn places and but theres more then weed like weed tablets, weed drinks to make you higha nd even more thats why and then little kids like 12 years old could get there hands on them
well i think both should legal cause i actually dont know why but i think it should be not for me to do it, i havent drank or smoked weed in 8th months been very sober but cigerattes i still do

I believe that both things in moderation is OK, (Social drinking or smoking) but some people do not know their limits.
