All it realy seems to be is a model for social controls, pro business that absolutely destroys communities with huge sprawls of strip malls and structures like Wal mart, and other lucrative endeavors that keep people rich and others super poor, and doesnt seem to give a care in the world about the environment or the social aspects that make this country worth living in. If you realy are a Republican, can you honestly tell me why you choose that party, and how you think it realy does a lick of good in the long run?

I wish ALL political parties could move more to the middle-of-the-road. It makes it easier for me to run 'em over.

I don't WANT to be Republican; I am COMPELLED to be. The Democrats want more govt control than anyone else. They're pushing for more socialistic policies. The very definition of the word "socialism" means government ownership for the distribution of goods. And, although the govt right now does care about the environment (G.W. Bush's TX house is more eco-friendly than Al Gore's TN mansion), it knows that it's up to the PEOPLE to make the world a better place to live. It sounds like you want to be with a party that wants to take everyone's choices away. That's not very American.

Because Republicans believe in self reliance, equality based on a person’s self worth and that work is better than a hand out.

You can choose to believe it or not, but I am Hispanic, I have a proud Hispanic heritage and a proud Hispanic history. I don't apologize for who I am or where I come from or what I believe. Now that being aid, the only people I have ever met who made me feel unimportant, useless and worthless have been Liberals (not all liberals mind you).

When I was in school I was treated different because of my Spanish surname, they put me in the "Bi-lingual" classes. Now that’s not a big deal, but while the "English only" classes were reading tom sawyer I was learning how to sing songs in Spanish... When I started college, I was at best a C student, but I got rushed to the head of every line, got every class I wanted and was never on a wait list just because I was Hispanic. In college I shared my political views on immigration (I am for it but I want border controls, my parents came here legally, why not every one else?) and I was called a race traitor to my face.

These are just some of the reasons I am a republican. No republican EVER insulted me for my race; no Republican ever expected less of me, no Republican ever made me feel low.

It’s the same reason my parents were/are Republicans.

My father taught me that the value of a man is what he does with what he has, not what he is.

Dislike a person who they are, not what they are.

And every man is worthy of respect until such time as they have proven them self unworthy.

And most of the liberals I know don’t understand most of those concepts.

Now as for your comment about business, if it was not for business you and I would not be sitting at computers possibly talking a continent away from each other. Neither of us would have a source of income, and both of us would probably have a pretty rough life farming fields.

The environment, who ever told you republicans don’t care about the environment is probably the same person who said republicans are about making the rich, rich and the poor, poor. Most every one cares about the environment, but we prefer logic and history to unproven and weak science. Trust me once I was in college I was no longer a C student, I actually studied a lot, including history and sciences, so I have a pretty decent understanding of the environment and how it has changed in the last 10000 years.

Instead of making assumptions about republicans that are obviously out of a far left handbook, you should probably try to get to know a few of us. You will find we are hard working, intelligent and dedicated (there are exceptions to every rule of course).

Some of my best friends are left leaning, and I can assure you not one of them would make assumptions like you did about republicans because they know better than to listen to propaganda; just like I do not make assumptions about them and their politics.

Best of luck

Everything you have said in your statement is a blanket characterization and stereotype.
I am a middle class republican, and will continue to support the party because I believe in smaller government and less taxes.
I beleive in workfare, not welfare.
I believe that entitlements are going to bankrupt our country, and handing our country away to ILLEGAL immigrants will only speed us down that path.

Conservatives wanted to be a Republican to fight liberalism.
