My priorities are:
+ photo print quality
+ low running costs (long lasting inks?)

I'm not bothered by extra's like 'print straight from memory card' etc

I go for Epson every time.......

Currently got a DX3850 which is an all in one, so does just about everything you want, and probably lots more than I know!!

Great prices to buy

Great quality

You don't have to buy genuine ink replacement cartridges, never bought an original yet, and been using Epsons for years

So cheap to run

All round top buy

I'm sure the DX3850 will by now have been overtaken by a newer model, but a similar all-in-one would be my advice

OK so you can buy cheaper machines to start with, but think about all the ink cartridges you will buy........

HP replacements can end up costing as much as the machine did in the first place

All my family and most of my friends would recommend Epson as well

I currently own an HP Officjet 6110 all in one machine. (Printer, Scanner, Copier, Fax). It works great, prints great photos even on standard paper, and I haven't tried the photo cartridges yet so I can't comment on them, but just using standard ink cartridges the photos print excellent.

As far as ink usuage, I only print most of my work in draft mode, as it saves ink considerably, but I've found that the ink cartridges for this printer seem to last quite a while, and this printer gets used quite often.

Most printers are photo quality but:

Look for a printer that has separate ink cartridges for each color. Each cartridge cost less and you don't have to throw away unused ink.
---Hp cartrages are expensive because the cartridage holds a print head.

If you print a lot of photos in high res., pay attention to page-per-min in color, If you don't want to wait all day.
