I need something original. Something along the lines of a dark psychological/metaphysical story. Takes place in Los Angeles.

L.A. + Psychological thriller = Something to do with auditions.
Almost every person in L.A. wants to make it "big", so make something with that. Acting, dancing, singing, anything to do with entertainment. It might not be original, but I would go for it. You are the Writer/Director, you can make it good and original yourself.
If you are really serious about this project, put all your thinking power into it.

A movie about this extremely attractive talented actress (who we'll call Lara), who gets to make a movie with an equally attractive talented actor (who we'll call Joe) who is married to a less attractive actress of very limited talent (who we'll call Rachel). So Lara and Joe fall in love, the marriage btn Rachel and Joe breaks up as a result, then Joe marries Lara, this causes chaos in Los Angeles as a mob called Team Rachel is formed and their mission is to kill Lara, fearing for her life Lara escapes with Joe to Africa, back in LA, Team Rachel has taken over the streets, but the birth of Joe's and Lara's child gives new hope to those who adore the beautiful couple that has fled to Africa. The prophecy said Joe's and Lara's child will rule LA, a resistance is formed to smash Team Rachel so that Lara and Joe can safely deliver the 'messiah' safely into LA, the resistance is called tem Lara, the battle btn the 2 teams must be Epic like LOTR, in the end who will triumph? I dont know yet.

How about a drunk driver gets into a car chase with the police through Los Angeles. After being forced to stop he gets dragged out of his car and is beaten to a pulp. years later he becomes a low life millionaire. How is that for original?

An eccentric man w/lots of money decides to build a rocket, and uses it to launch his enemies into space and just let them drift in space until they die. You could tell the story from many perspectives (victim, madman, police, victim's family, etc.)

okay, theres this celebrity at this fancy hotel, and he befriends two bell boys and they get chased into the mens bathroom by a permanent resident, and he wants to get them out of the bathroom, and will stop at nothing to get them out.
