Dictionary definitions of "liberal": Open to progress or reform; characterised by a desire for individual freedom; willingness to give generously and abundantly; free from prejudice and bigotry.

Conservative - disposed to the preservation of existing conditions or institutions, or the restoration of former traditions, and to limit change.

Conservatives favour the status quo because they have a vested interest in it. (Or at least they think they do, in the case of denial of climate change).

A liberal believes everyone is equal and that we should all share everything we've worked for with everyone, regardless of what they've contributed. They like to give hand-outs.

A conservative believes in personal responsibility. They'll help a fellow man, but that man has to want to help himself as well by not abusing social government systems long-term. They like to give hand-ups, instead of hand-outs.

The way I see it, everyone is a liberal until they work for a living and gain some assets, then they become conservatives after wondering why they pay for others who won't do the same.

My personal opinion is that true liberals want to help the world while true conservatives wants to help their neighbors.

I've seen good and evil on both sides of the table. THe liberals I like try to tackle things in a global scale, while the good conservatives try to concentrate their efforts on what they feel they can tackle. COnservatives seem to be very supportive of those who are around them.

I know its not the real definition, but it suits me.

I would not call hollywood liberals, liberals nor neo-cons conservatives. THey all seem to be just plain selfish people. THeir political goal is to enrich themselves and is not a politcal belief system.

a conservative will see you broken down at the side of the road and pass on by, figuring you can take care of it yourself, and darn it, you ought to.

a liberal will see you broken down by the side of the road, pull over, and, while trying to change your tire, will somehow manage to blow up your engine

A Liberal asks, "How can I help you?" A Conservative asks, "How can you help me?" This I've learned from personal experience.

I don't know but I wish they would all move to the middle-of-the-road. It makes it easier for me to run them over.
