A lot of mathematicians will say absolutely. I do think there is beauty in mathematics and some of the things that mathematics explains in nature is just mesmerizing and that feels beautiful. There is research that what we find beautiful is integrated into our genetic make-up and these things follow patterns that can be expressed as mathematical concepts. So, do we find it beautiful because it is the very thing we are made of? Are we seeing the beauty in ourselves? This concept can be tied to the golden ratio that the Greeks termed as the Divine Proportion. It has to do with movement inside the figures and what the eye and brain can see subconsciously - our brain is intrigued by the puzzle and we stare at it longer - Is this the attraction? Find out for yourself. :-) You can find a lot of fun stuff about this nifty little number! Look for Phi, phi, tau, golden number, golden rectangle, etc...

Look at this! It's really interesting. Somebody devised a beauty mask based on something called the golden ratio. It has to do with proportions and supposedly, this ratio is found in all of nature. Anyway, the closer a face matches this mask, the more beautiful it is. It works on celebrities' faces, and all the faces that fit are attractive. These websites kept me occupied for a while. Maybe they'll do you the same...:)

There have been studies done with babies who seem to prefer faces (male or female) that most closely match the proportions of the Golden Mean or phi. This is the same ratio used in many works of art and architecture, as well as many examples in nature.

Yes. No matter what your definition of beauty, there is a mathematical correlation to go along with it. (OK, so that's the converse relationship. The other is impossible to gage.)

yeah, by personal experiences i ve learnt that beautiful people are generally not good at math. although ido agree that there are some exceptions. but i prefer no beauty and lot of brains rather than no brains but lot of beauty.
