Just curious, what would happen if my high school burned down? Would school be cancelled?

School would not be canceled. Your school system already has established emergency procedures in place for such a catastrophe. Most likely, you will be relocated to another school's facility. And schedules will be changed to handle the influx load of increased enrollment at the facility. For example, another nearby high school will go on double sessions (i.e. Half attends 6:30-11:30am; the other half attends 12:00-5pm).

If you go to a private school, you would probably get out for at least a month, your parents would be required to pay money to repair damages, and you'd make up for lost time in the summer and during various other holidays.
If you attend a public school, a short period of time may be given in order to relocate, but you would attend classes in a different location.
Taxes would go up, people would be pissed off about that, and you'd be, more than likely, in a worse place than you were to begin with before the disaster occurred.
It would also take years to rebuild.

But, no, school would never be cancelled.
Unless the fire destroyed yours and neighboring schools and lasted for an extremely long time, destroying houses, too.
Even so, it would just be postponed.

I am a high school band teacher. If your high school burned down, your local school board would probably suspend school for about a week until a new arrangement could be reached. Depending on the size and capacity of your school and county, you would have to go to school either at another school, or some other temporary location, but believe me, after the aftermath of the disaster, school WOULD continue, so don't get any bright ideas :)

Hope this helps.

No, your district would be responsible to bus you to another school in the area (overcrowding) or to a facility that you could still be taught at. You know it is a really big crime to catch a building on fire, right???

you'd be shipped to another school -- you might get to miss a day or two.
