The Dust Bowl largely affected farmers in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. People like my great-grandfather (an Oklahoma wheat farmer) lost their farms and then their livelihoods. Not being able to grow and sell crops, banks foreclosed on the farmers' homes and land.
This created a great exodus of men and women who were seeking work. Many traveled west, especially to California, in search of employment. My great-grandfather wasn't allowed into the state, so he had no choice but to return to Oklahoma. The arrival of the Okies and Arkies created a lot of tension in California where there weren't enough jobs to meet the demand. To get an idea, 15% of Oklahoma's population left the state during the Dust Bowl.

There's a great book called Dust Bowl by Donald Worster. He mainly talks about the midwest, though.

Large numbers of people made landless by the Dust Storms moved west finding good land to farm and good crops to grow, finding a mixed reaction from those already there

Alot of people from Oklahoma (Okies) had to leave their farms and moved west to California and so in some places there was alot of overcrowding and resentment against the Okies for taking all the jobs, since they would work for lower wages because their families were going hungry.

It is a major question and I'm not qualified to give a comprehensive answer. I would however say it probably had a near equal in the Potato Famine of Ireland and the subsequent migrations of Irish to New York.
