I just bought a fish tank without researching any species. I have a 5 gallon tank with three yellow fish, two ugly fish, fifteen blue and purple fish, one two-foot long fish with really big teeth, and fifteen six-inch red fish. Do I need a filter or a heater? Can I use water from my toilet? Will my fish have babies? Will they have kittens? I know I could probably get professional advice from aquarium enthusiast sites online, but I'd rather get a bunch of random people telling me all kinds of different things. Besides, isn't a fish tank like a lava lamp, just a pretty thing to look at? What do you think?

...

Sorry, forgive my rant, I had to get that off my chest. Thank you for indulging me.

Bravo, Bravo you have captured many peoples thoughts on here I am sure. As for your fish tank, Yes use toilet water the blue kind is best, just add lemon juice to it so the fish are able to drink it. After about 4 weeks you will start to see puppies growing, remove the smallest fish so they don't eat the puppies. Next you should go to the pet store and buy every chemical they sell and dump them all into your aquarium. Good luck with the chickens :)

This is starting to sound like a fish ghetto. Will you please get some control over your fish before its too late?! But wait, the two-foot fish (and HOW he can fit in a five gallon tank...) will soon take care of the whole problem, so never mind.

this so isnt funny - I just answered your cat question, and you used the lava lamp metaphor in that one too. I give you a low score for creativity lacking - you could have thought of more original things to present

keep yourself away from animals and figure out your mental issues

dude if you dont like yahoo answers dont post stuff on this forum - go be sarcastic about something else

Oh wow! You have way too many fish in that tank. You need a much bigger tank ASAP! An overcrowded tank like that stresses the fish out and makes the water harder to care for and results in fish that are prone to disease.

firstly there are cold water fish and tropical fish, with the colours you are describing they sound tropical, which need to be at around 25 to 27 degrees requiring a heater, All tanks should have a filter to keep the water clean and provide oxygen to the tank, the ph level needs to be checked once a week and you need the apropriate fish food for what species they are.please don't subject your poor fish to toilet water.

just flush the damn things and put 'em out of their misery. they're more likely to find a better owner down there.
