He didn't even get one sack last year.

No sacks from your MLB in a 4-3 scheme is totally unacceptable. Urlacher is talented but the one play I remember best is when Jerome Bettis ran right through him for a TD in Pittsburgh in 05-06. Urlacher is over rated because he is a media darling and gets a lot of endorsements, plus he wasn't even the best LB on his team, Lance Briggs was.

Well, he's doesn't play a position where he's really expected to get sacks. He's more of a coverage and run-and-tackle LB, not an edge rusher like Shawne Merriman. So it doesn't mean much of anything that he didn't get any sacks.

Even so, yes, I do think he is overrated. He is very good, but he's not the obvious choice for best MLB in the league like a lot of people seem to think he is. There are a few other MLBs in the league who I think are about equally good, like Jonathan Vilma, Ray Lewis, and Zach Thomas. Donnie Edwards (of the Chargers until recently) is also a very good, very underrated inside linebacker who does nothing but make big plays at the most important times. I would rather have Vilma on my team than Urlacher.

All these people on here who think he's so ridiculously incredible are mostly just listening to the media hype. Urlacher is good, I think he's in the top 5 at his position in the league, but most people seem to think that he just dominates the league, and that just isn't true, so YES, Urlacher is overrated.

I can totally understand T.O. and i agree but brian urlacher that is just plain wrong. There are countless times that brian urlacher has saved the game and won a game that in technicality they should have lost. Why? Because he NEVER gives up no matter how far up or how far down they are in score he plays the same way everytime. The guy plays for the love of the game and has pure passion. And to top it off he is modest and he is not one of those loud mouth cocky players.overall the best player in the nfl!

If you are basing your argument just on sacks, then you don't know that much about football. There is a LOT more to being a linebacker than sacking the quarterback. Factor in blocked passes, tackles, leadership, etc... you can't do much better than Urlacher.

Well thats because he had to do more of coverage but he got nine sacks as a rookie but hes the best linebacker and one reason hes a great linebacker is because he likes to be succesfull like in da arizona cardinals game he gave it his all he had 20 tackles a few tipped pass and 1 forced fumball hes a great linebacker and when he gets pissed the bears win.

In a poll of NFL players, Urlacher was overwhelmingly chosen as the most over-rated player in the league.

Over-Hyped? Yes. Seems like SportsCenter sees Urlacher as the second-coming of Dick Butkus.

Overrated? No. I personally don't like him, but he IS one of the top 3 in his position today and I have to give him his props.

Jason, this question just proves your football ignorance. As someone has already said, Urlacher "roams" the field so to speak, he does NOT rush the QB. He is the most dominating and game changing LB in the game today, so to asnwer ur question.....HELL NO.

hes slightly overrated but hes not known for making sacks hes known for being a playmaker he led the team in tackles and he almost always leads that defense to victory.

the only time i've ever seen him get duped is by tom brady when he juked by him.

no hes not, he doesnt rush the QB hes a MLB, he roughs up runners. He also is a big threat to cover a wide reciever, u cant judge a line backer on sacks.
