"the colorado avalachance have sold out every game since they came into the nhl in 1995. that is twelve years of sold out hockey which is an NHL record"
That streak is dead, ended after 487 games. Impressive. An NHL record. Enjoy it. Won't last long. Take your pick: Wings fans or Leafs fans. Every game at the Joe is a party. Every Wings-Hawks game in Chicago is a sell out because the Wingnuts fill the barn. TO fans show up when their team is god awful and they out shout Sens fans in Ottawa.

The Red Wings have the longest streak of sell outs, The Canadian get the most ppl every year simply cause they have a huge fan base and a bigger areana. But if you want an interesting stat, the Calgary Flames have played to 112% capacity for the last two seasons. And if at any time there was a display that all teams wish their fan base had, was the Red Mile during the Flames run to the Finals a few years ago. No other team can match that kind of excitement from their fans.

Over the past few years, Detroit, Toronto, Minnesota, Montreal and New York (Rangers) have sold almost every ticket available. Minnesota I believe has even sold over their seating capacity every game since the return of a team to their city. These are such strong markets. Also, a mention to Colorado. Previous to this year they had sold out every game for over 10 years, since the Nordiques relocated there. Although these sellouts may not necessarily represent the best fans, going by passion and knowledge, but possibly just because it is a large city and the roughly 18,000-20,000 that attend a game is only just a small portion of any major city's people.
I also find it rather funny how many Buffalo fans have been claiming their passion for the Sabres. I know there are true hockey fans in Buffalo, but it seems there are a huge number of bandwagon jumpers. Where were all these "passionate" fans in 2003-04 when ticket sales were 82.8%, 20th in the league? Or even better than that? 2002-03 when they sold a total of 73.5% (28th in league). Oh, that's right, Buffalo finished well out of the playoffs that year, with only 72 points. 12th in the east. Guess that explains the ticket sales, doesn't it?

Im just taking an educated guess, but it would be teams like Toronto, Montreal, and Detroit. I know Detroit sells out every game, and I know the waiting list for season tickets in Toronto is like 25 years. Montreal has a huge fan base so Im assuming they sell out all their games. The penguins might have sold out thier games this year, but if they did you have to take into consideration exactly how small their arena is. I went to Pittsburgh Oct. 7th when they played the wings and I couldnt believe how small that place was. I also wouldnt be surprised if the Rangers sell out all thier games either based soley on the population of the area.

I would have to say either Buffalo or Pittsburgh. I've been to a few Penguins games where there was standing room only...and it was like that for most of the season.
One more tidbit of interesting info...I live in Phoenix and the only game the Coyotes sold out this season is when Pittsburgh played them in January. I was there...it was awesome...
Let's Go Pens!!!

Toronto is always sold out.... no exceptions. Sometimes people aren't in the seats, for whatever reason, but you cannot buy a ticket to the game unless you go see a scalper. You can't even buy a season ticket without sitting on a waiting list for 10 years, or inheriting them.

The Pens,,,sold out 30 of 41 home games despite the possibility of the team moving most of the season. Also sold out most of their road games...even in weak markets.

Detroit has sold out every game since 1996. I don't think anyone has pulled that off. Even Montreal and Toronto have had a small handful of games that didn't sell out since then.
