He is setting precedent here that 29% is acceptable, because the congress refuses to impeach. What if every president from now on has only 29% approval - do you think we will have very much say in what our government does?
Maybe the government did some kind of study to see how much he could get away with without really getting in trouble, and they stick with that so that they can get what they want done. Maybe Rush Limbaugh and other bush apologists are on government payroll? Think outside the box.

So then the president should do things that nobody wants him to do, and as long as he breaks no law (that we can prove), he can continue?

"ayromat" - i have talked to people that were in iraq, and most of them have said that what they are doing there is GAURDING OIL PIPELINES, and BUILDING U.S. MILITARY BASES. we are not fighting for our freedom in iraq, and that they say we are "fighting for our freedom" is laughable.

It is no longer about acceptable; it is about why americans vote the way they do. That is the real issue here. We would have to ammend the constitution to have the power to impeach a president based off a low approval rating. And well most americans like the constitution as it was originally written.
PS: Who is to say these poles on all these news sites are not biased, tampered with.... etc etc

Your a moron you can't impeach a president for low approval ratings. You need to read the constitution and learn that you can only impeach a president for high crimes and misdemeanors. So Bush can have an approval rating of 1% and nothing can be done about it. Also last time i checked 3 out of 10 would make 30%, but i will give you the 1% because again it makes no difference. If we could impeach people based on how much we liked them we wouldn't have a government.
Well first of all Bush would not use God's name in vain and second last time i checked it was a piece of paper. Are you trying to say it is something else? It is a bunch of words on a piece of paper that together with the Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers makes up what this country was founded on and tells us how this country is to be run and a lot of what can and cannot be done, but nevertheless all three of those are pieces of paper, I don't remember learning that our founding fathers used stone or leaves or whatever you think the constitution was written on. I believe in the constitution and all our founding documents and believe that following them as a basis for all other things done in this country is part of what makes this such a great country and makes me such a great conservaitve. If liberals believed so much in the constituiton then why are they all about seperation of church and state which is not in there nor any other founding documents, nor is it ever implied?

Surely you are not suggesting that we should be governed according to polls? When a government is elected it becomes privy to much more information than the entire community could ever consume or understand. That's why they are elected - to sift through the expert advice and come up with decisions that will benefit the entire community. It is not surprising that the community as a whole, unaware of the finer detail, sometimes reacts against a politician (of whatever political persuasion) through an opinion poll. But it's easy to answer an o;pinion poll - you don't have to make the decision on a matter of importance you political leader does. So all answers in an opinion poll are based not on fact but on a "gut feeling" that has nothing to do with reality. Talk to some of those serving in Iraq and find out what they think before you condemn policies. Then (somehow) get hold of all the reports that go before a decision-maker, read them thoroughly and then come up with a decision. So approval ratings don't matter. What matters is that a leader - whoever they are - makes a decision that they believe is right for everyone they represent. That's what we elect them to do. Not to change their minds every time an opinion poll comes out.

Oh yes those damn cowardly liberals... silly pinko commie liberal jews! (oh they are probably gay too). Cowardly would be more like supporting a war when none of your friends or family are the ones fighting it... when Bush's daughters are serving in Iraq I won't have much of a problem with him being in charge there.
Impeachment however should be reserved for crimes... I could see your point if his approval rating was 10%... but more than half of the voters in 2004 approved of him then (in their infinite wisdom), so he serves the rest of his term. If people don't like how things are then they should vote differently in 2008.
Rush Limbaugh isn't on the government payroll, his brain was just deprived of oxygen for a long period of time at some point in his life.

A president should not be impeached for low approval numbers! A president should be impeached for crimes. I don't consider disagreeing with people a crime. Do you?
You do have say in what your government does. 2 and a half years ago there was an election, and Bush won. A half a year ago, there was an election and Democrats took control of one third of the government. Congress has an approval rating in the twenties, and always seems to. Maybe we should abolish it.

29 percent is way to high in my opinion, but I'm just one of those folks that lived through Vietnam and watched all the killing and dying for no purpose, no reason or no good.
All the same arguments and justifications are being used over and over again just like back in the 60's an 70's.
I and my 60's and 70's brothers and sister saw this mess coming, we marched together in San Francisco before this war started, but no one in the White House was listening to anything.
And guess what! No one in the White House is listening now!
The sadness is heavy in this land. All the lives wasted for some stupid set of ideas about American righteousness is just that, ideas, stupid paranoid ideas.
And no one is listening in the WHITE HOUSE!
No one is Listening in the WHITE HOUSE, again.

The only polls that matter are elections. Anyone with any agenda can take a poll. They are meaningless. By federal law impeachment can only be for crimes committed by the president not trumpt up poll numbers.

It just shows how fickle the American populace really is, in November 2004 he had a 51% approval rating.
He hasn't changed at all, he's the same guy he was then and is behaving the same way and doing just a good of a job as he did then.

It is this form of Government that has brought the USA to its current state.
In a Parliamentary Form of Government, Bush would have been gone last November.
