I test driven the VW V10. Its a very nice car, and normally they wouldn't let you do it unless they think you are a serious buyer. Its very nice and has strong pickup from 0 to 40 mph(i think its got 700 nm torque), however it lost its momentum once you go pass that bracket, in other word it still feels like driving a truck. I went to Porsche dealership, I saw a black turbo model with 20" rim. I checked the sold car inside out (it looks similar to touareg in a lot of way), but the sales person insist on 10 minutes test drive on 03 cayenne S. I was a skeptic and I want the best decision especially when it comes to 5 year- commitment, nevertheless I placed an order on the same week. My advice to you, if you are serious about getting a real SUV, dont buy one before you drive a Cayenne S or better!

OK, first, if you have driven both a VW Touareg and a Cayenne, you would know they are not "basically the same thing"
They share a platform, but only one drives like a Porsche.
The Porsche is a very nice SUV, nicely finished inside, and does everything you need an SUV to do, but drives like a Porsche.
If all you care about are statistics, and getting from point A to point B, you can certainly buy an Explorer or something else for less.
If you actually enjoy driving, the Cayenne is all about the driving experience.

1.Because the turbo S has 520 frickin' horsepower! The most horsepower of any new Porsche now!
2. The Touareg V-10 is a DIESEL only in the USA for almost $60,000
3. The Touareg has a VW emblem on the back that is the size of a sewer lid, even the rappers won't wear them for fear of neck injuries!
FYI- VW Group made a one off Bentley version of the Touareg, thank God they didnt put it in production!

first off, you listed the number one reason. most people would rather drive a porsche than a VW. and theyre not essentially the same car. they share a platform, but the porsche is much better in many ways (suspension, brakes, interior, motors, etc etc).
second off, theyre pretty good SUVs.
third, the turbos are REALLY REALLY fast, especially for an SUV. I saw one test where a cayenne turbo matched an e46 (last gen) bmw M3 on a race track. thats FAST. Ive driven my neighbors a few times and its just completely beastly.
and for the guy above me: VW DOES NOT OWN PORSCHE. its a common myth. they never have and never will. a few years ago porsche bought a large chunk of VW (its up to 30.1% i think now), but never has VW owned porsche. theyve done a few joint projects, but thats all.

mann, i wouldent get a cayenne, cuz if u want it to be good it will cost u like 150 000 and i got my 911 turbo s for 120 000 amd it will own it in a race , and it is not like the touareg, it would own it, but if i were to get a new car i would get a used ferrari or lambo for like 160 000
go to autotrader.ca good cite if ur looking for cars used or new, u could find skylines :):):):):) and supra twin turbos :):):):)
