I went to elementry school in the early 90s and I could have sworn my teacher told me it was one word. It wasn't until junior high that I remember learning it was actually 2 words. I think some teachers out there just don't know what they are talking about.
Trust me though...it is 2 words.

Well, your new English teacher is right about spelling "a lot." You can always go to a dictionary and look up the words you need to spell. In this case, you would have to look up "lot" and then conclude that "a lot" is two words. You won't find "alot" in a dictionary.
I don't think you should give someone detention for a grammatical or spelling error. If she does do it, I hope she doesn't do it a lot.

The correct spelling is 'a lot' and not 'alot'. The spelling 'alot' has not yet been accepted in the dictionary, to the best of my knowledge. Maybe, due to popular usage, it may find a place in dictionaries soon. Till then, it is better to write 'a lot', so that any teacher should accept it as correct.

Sorry, but it is "a lot". Try writing it in something that you can spell check and see what happens. If you spell it alot, it should correct it for you.

Listen, choochoo, there is no such word as 'alot'.
They are two separate words - a lot.
e.g.
There are a lot of people in the room.
I like her a lot.
The farmer gave me a lot of apples
There is another word, spelt 'allot' but that does not have the same meaning as 'a lot'.

to positioned it ordinary, instructors who've shiny students beware of the shiny students. shall we face it, those sensible human beings are going to be the preachers, senators, philosphers, writers, poets, and properly Leaders of the destiny. however maximum would no longer agree, notwithstanding the instructors favor to keep them centred on transforming into those issues, so someone does the interest voulentarly, no longer because someone compelled them to do it. i could shrug your shoulder and luxuriate in your self. be conscious to the sensible although, lol making out at school is ackward for you and anybody that reveals you lmao, highly if its contained in the opposites sexes locker room and a no one notices to once they are bare.. lol Any they are observing out for you, lol, so don;t agonize. in simple terms get excitement from your self, and do not become a sex hog..
