you have nothing to gripe about. thats a great price, assuming that includes parts.
and i agree with the first answer.....why would you ask this after the car is done and the bill is payed??? do you want a reason to worry about something that is not reverseable?
in the future, try estimates from a couple places BEFORE you get the work done. that would'nt be such a waste of time, like what im doing now by answering this question. bye

$800 for a rack is not a bad price on a front wheel drive car. The subframe will have to be dropped and the transmission may have to be removed. But he has looked at it, right? It could just be a hose. That is early, but take a look at the dodge section here on Yahoo...I'm answering questions for a variety of 2000+ Dodges that are having issues my early 90's Toyotas haven't had.

I bought the parts and a friend of mine did the job for $125.I was lucky and found a car that was hit in the rear and totaled. The guy had just replaced the whole front end before the wreck. He was a friend too.Was told the whole cost would have been around $675.But thats in central NC.

I would think you did all right for that area. They could get away with a lot more with the money that is around you. Plus it is a good deal of work to do all that they done. The shop I work at charges $75 an hour labor and I am nowhere near So. Cal.

I live in Wisconsin, and I replaced a rack and pinion in a Dodge Intrepid and it came to over $1000.00. So $800.00 for a rack and pinion is reasonable.

Nope.
Honda, Accord, Front WD...what did you expect?
You should really ask this question BEFORE you write the check, not after.
Fear NOT, you got an amazing amount of labor for almost nothing. Your repair was fairly complicated and time consuming.
