Im a Leaf fan and need New Jersey to win tomorrow afternoon so the leafs will make the playoffs. I'm worried Brodeur won't be playing, which would give the Islanders and easier game. What do you think?

Doubtful considering the game means nothing to NJ...why risk an injury to their franchise?

I'd like to know where people are getting this info that Marty is not playing

1) Brodeur only leads Luongo by one win. To defend his record, Marty wants to play tomorrow.

2) They have a few days to rest before the playoffs begins. I think the Devils are more concerned with allowing Marty to stay in his rhythm than they are with giving him rest. Goalies have a routine and they don't like to be disrupted.

3) Silly as it sounds, they are playing for home ice in the Stanley Cup Finals. If they make it, they may have to face the Sharks (who finished with 107 points) or the Stars (who will finish with 105-107 points). The Devils have 106. They want to finish ahead of as many West teams as they can to maximize their chances of having home ice in that round. Remember how the last three finals ended up...

4) Lou Lamoriello fired Claude Julien because he wasn't happy with the way the team was playing. I highly doubt that he is going send a message to the team that they can just slide into the playoffs. Benching Brodeur would send that message.

The Devils may indeeddecide to rest Broduer tomorrow, but I'd say the odds are against it. Brody has started about 90% of the Devils games since 1994-95 so I give him a 90% chance of starting tomorrow.

And even if the Devils start Clemmenson, it's still the Devils at home. Not an easy team to beat.

I am not sure, but if the Devils are smart, Brodeur won't play. He has played too much this year anyway, and the game doesn't mean anything to them. Brodeur has had problems getting tired in the playoffs some years. He probably should get a break so he'll be fresh for the playoffs.

Regardless, I wish you luck! With Montreal out of the picture, I'd like to see you guys make it. There can never be too many Canadian teams.

Yes. In terms of personal records, this game does mean a lot to Brodeur and the Devils' organization. There are still plenty of days before the playoffs start, and if New Jersey was concerned about Marty's durability and stamina, then they probably would have played him less during the rest of the season. Considering the fact that the Devils sealed their playoff destiny a while ago, they had ample opportunity to rest him earlier. Having a 4+ day layoff is not ideal for the rhythm of playing that Brodeur is accostumed to...

Absolutely NOT, I cannot find a reason why they would. This game for them means nothing to them, they don't even have to show up. Why on earth would they risk an injury before the playoffs for nothing? Yes he will. He can set several records by winning tomorrow. He already set the record for wins in a season and Im sure he wants to make it a little higher to make sure others dont pass it anytime soon. I also stole the following paragraph from the preview of tomorrows game off yahoo.

Brodeur, though, figures to play as he is one appearance shy of his 79th of the season, which would match Grant Fuhr's NHL record set in 1995-96 with St. Louis. A victory in this game would give him 92 over last season and this season, one more than Hall of Famer Bernie Parent had with the Flyers in back-to-back seasons (1973-74 and 1974-75).

Doubtful. The game means nothing so its not worth risking him. Too bad though, the islanders will be a light snack for Buffalo. That series won't even be worth watching. Then again NJ might pull this one off without him.

I'd say 87.57% no. Interesting number isn't it? Even if they do start Brodeur, the Islanders could still win.
