A good foundation in algebra is key for success in the rest of your math courses.
If you are making good grades in your current math class and have a good understanding of the concepts you've learned, then it is fine to go ahead and take the algebra course.
If, however, you are struggling to even pass, not getting a good grasp on the concepts, then you'd be better off waiting another year before beginning algebra.
You are probably the best judge of where you stand right now. Take a look at your grades and performance. If your scores are high, go for it.
I wouldn't worry as much about what your classmates are doing or what you'll be taking 4-5 years from now; you need to do what is best for you.

Take algebra 1 if you are ready for it. I did when I was your age and it really helped me. You take every math course a year ahead. This can help you get higher scores on your SATS since you will already be very familiar with the math on the tests as it isn't something new, but something you have used over and over again.
If your high school requires a major to graduate, starting math early can be a great tool. In my school we were required 4 high school credits in math. Because I got the first one in 8th grade, I took a fifth math in high school and got a math major. If you wind up with multiple majors that looks very good on a college application.
Also, more math education can really help when you reach college. You will score higher on the placement tests and won't have to take Pre-math, but can go right to a credit earning level.
I know this is a lot about the future that you may not have thought of yet, but it is a great benefit to you later.

It all depends on how you did in Algebra prep. I am in the 8th grade and in 7th I HATED MATH!!! My teacher was horrible and I am usually smart in math. The whole year I barley pulled a C. But for 8th grade I got to choose if I wanted to re-take the class or start Algebra, and I decided to take Algebra and I'm doing fine in the class.
I would have faith in yourself. Talking Algebra will definanlty give you a heads up since you have to know it for your freshmen year in high school. I say, get ahead of the game, and take Algebra. You'll do fine!
Good Luck :D

you're dashing issues. you've 4 a million/2 years left before you end secondary college. that's type of a 4th grader hectic about the eighth grade. you do not unavoidably choose honors classes as a way to be admitted right into a fantastic college or any college, they are going to seem on the grades that you gained, the topics that you've taken, college and human being innovations.SAT's and more advantageous-curricular activities besides as different issues. do not trouble, Your life or destiny has no longer been ruined because you ar no longer in honor math,

Personally, I like Algebra 1. I'm in 7th grade and taking it. Go for it if you feel you are good enough.

I think you should go on to Algebra 1. If you retake Algebra Prep it might mess you up with your schedule in high school. Believe me. I know.
