How can I get money on the internet?

How am I supposed to get any significant hits on a website

First off, you make money on a website from advertisements. Or from people paying for services or products your website provides.

I would suggest that if you are trying to get more hits on your website to invest in books or programs that adapt your websites to "google" or "yahoo" (or other search engines) schemes. I am not sure if that is the best way to word it. But let me explain. When you search something via an internet search engine, the search engine looks for specific key words on a website to determine which order the websites are listed (i.e. the number one site has the most matches). There are ways to modify your website so it appears higher up on the list, and therefore will be viewed by more people - and most likely visited by more people.

Avoid paypal like the plague.

If you do open a Paypal account, drain it as soon as funds hit. If you are ever accused of failing to supply goods purchased, and can not prove you sent the item(s), and they were received...paypal wil close your account, and take every cent in it.
And no, you have no legal recourse if this happens, you agree to this when you set-up an account.
