When you compress gas, you are doing work to overcome the existing pressure and increase it. The work involves energy and it has to go somewhere, it shows up as an increased temperature (faster movement) from the more tightly spaced molecules bouncing off each other.

its quite simple and has easy logic!
if you compress a gas,you reduce the volume of space available for the gas particles to move in.this leaves the particles moving shorter distances before they collide either with the walls of the container or with each other.shorter distance but more energy is involved.this more frequent banging increases friction,which increases the temperature.

Because it is based on this concept, increase in pressure means increase in temperature as well. The more you compress it, the more there are colliding particles which produces friction, thus increasing temperature.

You may want to double check this, but I believe it's because the gas particles(the atoms) are moving a lot faster, bumping into each other more because of the smaller space, and this causes heat energy to be released.
