I had a long-term relationship with one lover who got even hornier on her period and making love was not a problem. Nor was it gross--okay after sex there would be bit of blood to wipe off of Mr. Stiffy, but there was also some bodily fluids to wipe off too.

Now my wife refuses to have sex on her period. It seems like she thinks it just isn't possible unless she goes swimming or takes a long bath (for her, being in water stops the blood for a while).

So I think a lot of it is personal preference..

Darlin, you can... my concern that you should be asking is - who or what is dictating the choice?
It is not considered a hygenic practice and exposes your body to more likelihood of infection.
HE should not push you to make the choice. I have no idea how old you are but i suspect young... and i would suggest, that you steer clear of the experience unless you are in a very caring and supportive relationship,. we women go through enough abuse of our bodies etc without being of the mind that we need to have sex during that one time we can rejoice in being female...
it is true for some women that there are stronger sexual urges during the monthly cycle, however i would also suggest that is again should only be explored when in a loving and caring relationship, it is too easy for a domineering guy to destroy self-worth in a girl by his careless and clumsy idiotic words because he doesn't have a clue what a beautiful experience both having a menstrual cycle, and making love is all about.
Hon, don't rush to find out about sex experiences. If you're young, stay young and explore life and make something meaningful of who you are.
Cheers,

Yes, you absolutely can. Some women find sex during their period to be more pleasurable than when they are not because of the different hormone levels (this, of course, varies completely from woman to woman, though).

Just so you know, though, you CAN still become pregnant during your period. It is rare for a woman to ovulate during menstruating, but it's not unheard of, so you still need to use protection!

There is absolutely no problem with having sex on your period. My doctor told me it can even help relieve cramps in some women, kind of like getting in internal massage.

And there is no way i feel like rejoicing when i'm having horrible cramps and wearing uncomfortable pads.

Yes you can. Just take a shower or a bath before you do it, so there won't be such a mess. I think it actually feels good.

Yes. It is a good time to try sex in the shower.

Of course! It might be a little messy, but it's completely safe. I do it every month.

Yes you can have sex, but as many have said. Its very messy.
It depends if you or your partner mind.

However, still use protection.

Sure, as long as neither of you are bothered by the blood. Lay a couple of towels under you to catch any messes that might happen and have fun :P
