I'm buying a new laptop and im not sure wut processor or brand is good in which i get a good deal so can you help me out here?

I'm going to be using this laptop to do school work such as word docs and power points etc. I will be using this laptop to listen to music with and possibly watch movies. Im going to be burning cd's for music so i would like a burner also. I will be mainly using this to do hw (as i said above), Instant messenger (AIM) and just to surf the web email, play games, go on nba.com etc.....

here are some Requirements i thought of:

Processor - (for word docs, music, and surfing web) Core 2 Duo? (not sure if the core 2 duo is wut i need; some ppl have told me this one is good?)

Hardrive - 80GB or more

Memory - 1Gb

(OS)Windows: Vista Home Premium

Bluetooth technology for wireless internet

Burner - normal (maybe 8x) i only need it to burn music cd's

Thanks

Sounds like you want to do a lot of stuff and will need a pretty sophisticated piece of hardware.

I would only advise you to go to a reputable seller - especially one with good support - which is as important as the price - trust me on this.

Trustworthy sellers include HP, Dell, Toshiba ... I can only speak for HP and attest to the fact that I recently had a very satisfactory experience with their support site and solved my problem. Next time I'm ready for an upgrade, I will seriously consider HP.

my personal views...
Suggestions of brand .. which i think is better..
SONY (If u have the money) .. ASUS (Taiwan brand and that's what i m using now..)... or.. Toshiba... dell maybe...

Me myself... wldn't suggest compaq.. Because i had one before.. didn't really like it..

Thinking that its kind of hard for you to choose the size of the computer... it will probably be better to get a smaller ones (for school)
but then you want it to use it on games as well..and that will need bigger screens to have MORE fun.. which means.. bigger and heavier computer... (won't be a pleasant thing to do if u need to carry it all the time)

I believe most new .. better computers comes with core 2 duo already...
Using Vista?? probably better to have 2GB's of ram..memory or more(since u want to use it for gaming ..)
