This has been a life-long unfortunate for women. When men get older (I am speaking about actors specifically) they might actually get cast more. People find the older man to be sexy, strong, mature, etc. But you will notice that their love interests are always much younger. We value beauty and youth in society- especially for women. It's quite sad actually. I am not much of a Madonna fan- but it has nothing to do with her age. And most of my favorite actresses are older ones - Catherine O'Hara, Annette Benning, Frances McDormand. They have genuine acting ability - whereas alot of young females are just in the business because of their looks.

yeah, what a messed up standard-- that women are valued during their youth while men are valued for status, power, maturity.. we don't have to follow this age-ist and sexist trend, though. i'll create my own heros

Maybe it is because she is an entertainer.
But, as far as I can see, enough people like her in her "old" age to keep her a millionairess.

I went to her concert and her concert were GREAT!!!
not just stand there and sing
but dancers were awesome
she work hard at what she does
