I happened across this question on the main page and had to comment.
I got some flack for reacting negatively to a fella who said that I was a homo for liking women's basketball. Yahoo yanked my post and slapped my wrist. And when I replied to the slap by basically saying "WTF, does Yahoo condone that kind of speech? Does Yahoo think only "homos" like women's bball?" they slapped it again.
I don't think they give a flying flip about the abuse on yahoo answers, to tell you the truth. Enforcement is arbitrary and idiotic.
This is a chaotic place where people use the freedom of anonymity to hurl careless and hurtful abuse at complete strangers.
I feel for y'all in this LGBT forum who I imagine catch some of the worst of it.

I really only answer questions now of people I know. I look to see how long people have been on y/a and if they have no profile or a 360 page I won't answer their questions. Y/A already deleted my acct. and now I am starting all over, I was almost at level 5 when that happened.

Oh come now, Juan Dearest, I'm planning on sticking around for awhile (barring another huge cold and asthma attack ...eek eek eek) If we all can't carry on a decent line of conversation at our ages we're all silly. Well, we are all silly.
As for Y!A, any kind of sensitive area is going to be hard to police and until they start checking ISP's they're not going to be able to control the goat-trippers.
Blessings, my love.

Uhm people's interest change the more their questions get answered, so then they get fatigued with the topic. But people who are not yet into it and find it will have questions they wish answered and will wish to fill their cup with knowledge.
So a few leave, a few come in, it all evens out.

Well, to be honest, I'm here for the friendships I am making here. I am trying to ignore the repeat questions. But I do have a fear of losing my ID, as well. So it is possible that soon, I might appear under a different ID.

I agree, their system is messed up. They are just making money and aren't really concerned with the people that come here as long as people keep coming they could care less about people loosing their ID's. Fortunately for me I have unlimited access to ID's and can work around their system. : )

I think you are correct because you dont have the same people on now and when you do they seem to get a lot of violations. I believe yahoo are trying to get rid of this page all together.

Honestly, Juan, I don't know. I waver between thinking that Y!A just pushes us off to the side and cares little about this section to thinking that they are very much in control of it. I just wish we would get more intelligent questions and answers on here..but I think most of us regulars know who is a reliable source of info.

From my viewpoint, you are 100% correct.
My only motive to answer questions was to help others.
When questions devolve into meaningless conversation and answers are subject to account deletion, I answer much less than I used to and I now question if I should continue to participate at all.
