Because one day i had a guy who had walked back into the freezer and ate a mcchicken sandwich and also one day everyone will eat a piece of nugget when our supervisor leaves to go out and smoke. Is that called stealing?

Lets put it this way. McDonald's stores are franchises. The owner of the franchise has to pay McDonalds an exhorbitant fee to "own" a McDonalds restaurant. I agree that their wages structure sucks - they pay just about slave labour rates. Oh sure, its the legal MINIMUM but that's why they don't employ 18 or 19 year olds to srve your McChicken, Fries and Coke - a 15 year old can do it just as well for half the pay. The person who owns the franchise (not necessarily the manager) is in business to make money and every time someone screws up an order or filches a McNugget or something that is costing him/her. I don't say that it will send the boss broke - far from it, but it is actually called "theft as a servant". Theoretically if you were caught the boss could have the person charged with stealing but most likey wouldn't bother over a McNuget. More likely the result would be instant dismissal. Don't get a guilt complex over it because a certain amount of screwed up orders and other losses are all factored into the price structure.

But is it right to steal from your boss? What would you do if you owned the business and caught someone stealing food - even if it was only a nugget? You'd have to question - if they will steal a McNugget, what else would they steal? How many have they stolen that I don't know about? Would you still want to employ and TRUST that person?

My advice - don't do it yourself because sooner or later you'll get caught. Get sacked from McDonalds for stealing food.... you won't get a job with KFC or Burger King etc, because they will want a refernce from McDonalds store you worked at and they will tell them you were sacked for stealing.

Do you know that in the 1700's people were thrown in prison for life for stealing a loaf of bread! Then the Brits hit on the idea of "Transportation" to the new colony - send them to New South Wales. Suprisingly it was because the prisons were overflowing with such petty criminals and it was costing 20 English Pounds a year to keep each person in prison.

Stealing is still stealing whether its a 10c McNugget or a BMW.

Its your concience.

It's stealing if the item has not been paid for. They should all be fired. If the manager is not actually on a break when he/she goes out for a smoke, then they are stealing company time, as well.

Maybe. Stealing from what..a corporation whose food is so badly made and kills people. Besides, Im sure a lot of that food is thrown out. Morally if I were you dont take it. If you did, give it to a homeless person somewhere.

No I do not think its stealing. First - if you work for them, as a food service worker, surely you are entitled to on duty meals. Plus as a food service worker I guess you are must have a taste of what you serve..... right.

It depends what your rules are. it depends on actually who owns the McD. Do they take out money for the food anyway?
If they deduct money for food anyway, its not stealing.

If it was not paid for by the person consuming it, then yes it's stealing.

Well, since you don't pay for it, it's called stealing.
Anyways, why would you want to steal McD food...
