I need to know, money wise, how effective or trusted the place is... I want to start taking acting classes.

Cheapest and best is to take classes at you local junor college or community college. What ever you do don't take "classes" from the so called Talent Agencies like Barbazon or John Robert Powers, these are scams well known and truted scams but still scams.

If you are interested in film or television then Los Angeles is probably the best. If you are interested in theatre, probably New York. Chicago has a rich tradition as well.
In Los Angeles there are several theatre companies that are not expensive to join but you have to pay your dues and be willing to do almost anything at first.
Most of the school and academies are not really worth the money.

the cheapest in the end would probally be acting classes through your local community collage. there you are garenteed to not get scamed. its easyest to start there because there are alot of begginers in level one classes.
