why is my ex girlfriend giving me mixed signals, she sends me emails about love everytime i talk to her and then when i try to work it out she says she onyl wants to be friends. Im fine with that but ex's dont send each other emails about love (unless im wrong) and thats not a part of a platonic relationship particullarly if that person if your ex.

She is trying to keep a perverse sense of control over you and it's working. It's a female power trip that nice guys get sucked into. I know, I'm a nice guy and I was burned by it twice. When my last girlfriend tried it I smartened up and tricked her into marrying me then had three kids (girls) with her. HA, I win.

You need to read the book "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus". Women don't think like men and they look at relationships and friendship in ways different then men. That is why they can't figure each other out and get mixed messages. Men are either-or thinkers; women are much more grey area thinkers. I have heard women have arguments with each other that sounded very bitter, and then go shopping with each other ten minutes later. A man would have sought to avoid the argument in the first place and try to keep things on an even keel. Women love conflict and drama and they live life in their head as a story. Men are physical beings who think things are either this way or that way. If you think a man could understand women, forget it, and vice versa.
If you think you want to try to understand, just "listen", don't try to plan, just follow her lead, but don't sit and wait for her to make up her mind. Don't push and don't pull, just go with the flow. You may end up somewhare or you may end up nowhere. Don't make too much of an emotional investment, and if you have, start divesting yourself. Where you find love and the relationship of your life no one can tell.

Not all people thing in binary, although it would be nicer that way.
Many people feel comfortable being in the gray areas. To them, gray areas are acceptable and are part of life, while in reality you should only be black or white. Otherwise, it just means you are not understand the matter completely.
This appears applies to your ex. No body perfect.
If you still love her, just keep your love to yourself, do not impose her and let her work her own way out.
Make sure, however, go and find yourself another chick, they deserve you and you are not only created for your ex alone.
