My sister ate Chinese Food, took a teaspoon a castor oil (which I didn't think was a wise idea) and then had s*x. A few hours later she was in labor.....

Here are some safe ways to try to bring on labor...But first you should know that the average length of first pregnancy is 41 weeks 1 day, and that pregnancies with prior births are 40 weeks 3 days...
Patience is always the best option, as intervening with the natural progression of things can actually increase your risk of cesarean section!!! And make a labor that was not ready to begin last a really long time, running the risk for even more medical intervention, which also leads to increased risk of cesarean section!!! With all that in mind,
She can:
Walk, especially stairs. Going up sideways and down sideways help the baby drop into place!
Try red raspberry tea!!! Also really good for toning your uterus for the job ahead!
Eat spicy food...They say that anything that makes you need to go number 2 (just trying to keep it clean) increase the amount of natural labor inducing hormone in your system possibly sparking labor! The problem with things like castor oil & laxatives is that it can also cause the baby to have loose stools and he or she may pass meconium (baby poop) increasing the risk of infection among other things!!!
Sex. Seaman contains the same hormone that doctors synthetically replicate to start labor! Plus it is a way to relax and have fun before the big moment!
Nipple stimulation, either you or your significant other can do it, or you can use a breast pump! That allows you to naturally release the labor-inducing hormone!
Those are the most tried & true natural safe ways to bring on labor! They are not 100% effective so be prepared to wait, which again is always the best option. If the baby is not ready to come why force it, and if your body isn’t ready to deliver it wont!!! Anyway I wish you much luck & congratulations!!!

First of all the word is PREGNANT and it's just too bad she is tired of being pregnant. If she didn't want to be pregnant she shouldn't have spread her legs. A normal full term pregnancy lasts anywhere from 32 to 42 weeks, a "due date" is only an estimation of when to expect the birth, it is not the actual date the baby HAS to arrive. The only way to induce labor is if a doctor does it in a hospital.

The main suggestion to induce labour according to all the books are having sex (as the hormones in sperm-prostoglandin- can induce contractions), although at 9 months pregnant, maybe not what she feels like doing!
However, the new research says that labour will only begin when the babies lungs are developed fully and they release a hormone themselves to start contractions, so in this case, nothing she can do will initiate it.
I would just tell her to relax, she won't have time to when the baby comes believe me!!!

Please note one simple thing...
Due Dates are arbitrary dates the doctor assigns as to when (s)he THINKS you (or, in this case, your sister) is likely to pop the kid(s) out. The doctor has a better chance of picking an accurate due date as picking the winning numbers in the lotto. ;)
As for methods of inducing labour with "non-medical" means... the "effective" means I've heard of are: Exercise (vigourously), intercourse, eating spicy food, going on an amusement park ride...
Whether they actually work or not...there is no conclusive direct evidence one way or the other.
If she is truely sick of being pregnant - have her talk to her doctor about inducing labour. Or, she can simply wait a few more days. She's likely to have the kid in the next few days anyway (I've never head of anyone going more than two or so weeks past a due date).

There's lots of things that might work, like having sex, walking a lot, but really the baby isn't going to come until he/she is ready and often it's not wise to induce it. I was a week and a half late and nothing worked for us. being patient is the best thing to do. It will be over for her soon.

here are some natural inducers, but you enjoy being pregnant cause you're not going to get much sleep, that's for certain. Also one word of advice, breastfeeding is the best route to go BUT one thing they didn't tell my wife is that you're going to be a walking baby food machine. Meaning, that everytime the baby is hungy, the ONLY person who can feed the baby is you. So you're not going to get any rest. But anyways, here's the link http://www.womenshealthcaretopics.com/natural_labor_inducers.htm

I've heard that taking a walk might help. But, maybe there's a reason why she hasn't had the baby, maybe the body is preparing. My mother was having light contractions for 3 days before giving birth to me and didn't realize until later.

The apple will fall from the tree when it is ready. I had to be induced just 3 days early and now my daughter has lung problems. Nature will take its course.

Umm there is not a safe way to induce labor at home are you out of your mind. 3 days is nothing as far as overdue. Only her Ob/Gyn can decide whether inducing is necassary. This generation scares the hell out of me sometimes. maybe you all should have gone to the birthing drive thru open 24/7 for your convience. Or maybe you can go to 7-11 and see if they have an inducing kit on sale.
