The first question you should ask yourself is, at what speed is the oceans rising. How long till it requires action. If all coast lines were moved back, who would protect our shores?

The sad part about global warming hypothesis' is that there is not enough recorded data to say either way. The Earth is about 4 billion years old and humans have only been here around 10,000 years. I remember in 1977, 1978 and 1979 everyone was talking about the next ice age. The only fact is all this works in cycles, the entire world weather patterns are interconnected and we don't yet know 100% how. By the way the planet started off as a ball of lava. So we are technically gobally cooler now then when the Earth was formed. Now how about being a good guy and helping me move the 40 inches of globally warmed snow from my yard. JD

First off, why move residents from their homes, businesses, jobs? With the "supposed" global warming the oceans are not even rising a quarter of an inch per year, depending on who you get your facts from.
Number 2, most of the government, Dems and Reps alike, don't really believe in this global warming scam put on the American Public. IF they did, why would most of the DEMS and REPS alike own homes that would sure to be flooded? With them having all the inteligence and access to all the knowledgible ones, do you honestly think they would spend millions of dollars on homes that were sure to be flooded???
Third, the HOLLYWOOD ELITISTgoofballs in California also have pleanty of money, but insist on living as close to the ocean as they can, and why you must ask yourself. Yes, it may be for the view, but if Global Warming was going to flood their homes, why would they live so close if they really did believe in all the rubbish about global warming?
Fourth, the big spokesman himself AL GORE, why would he own two homes that are sure to be flooded out with GLOBAL Warming? He preaches a good sermon, but doesn't live it himself.
Now before you get all up in arms about it, yes, there MAY be some ways we could be more earth friendly. I agree with that, and yes, we should cut some of our polution down from the Human Race. But lets not get carried away here. IF everyone with ALL the money are not really worried about it, and continue to preach, you have to ask yourself why are you so worried about it? Or have you fallen to all the scams ran amock to frighten you into giving money for the eletists in the world?
Last, why should the government be the one that always have to come to the rescue? Are you not able to do something yourself, or are you to "scared" to try to do something yourself? If you live there, and are that scared of the scam of global warming and all the "carbon credit" and other frauds, then why don't you move? Why spend tax dollars on people who DO not want to move?

There will be NO flooding of the coasts that is all tree-hugger/eco-nazi propaganda.
Ever put a can of Coke/Pepsi or similiar in the freezer? it explodes. Why? Ice expands. Thus lack of ice means LESS water not more.
Take a glass of Ice, let it melt, you have less water in the glass than the ice you had in it.
So all this global warming BS is just another scare tactic to lighten peoples wallets and make the fat cats fatter.

Now why would I want to panic? The only people that live on the coasts are the lefties anyway. I'm thinking how can I, as a concerned conservative, start speeding this global warming thing up? I'm working on a plan right now.........

Global warming won't (likely) cause the oceans to rise for a century or two. However, it will cause more severe storms along the coast.
As to why the government isn't doing anything, remember Katrina? The government didn't do anything for three days AFTER the storm hit. Do you expect them to do something decades BEFORE an event? Especially one that ConReps don't believe will happen.

If you really want to try and track reality, check the availability and cost of non-subsidized property insurance (and any limitations, deductibles, or exclusions) for properties in various states in the coastal zones. See if it's harder or more expensive to get insurance, see if building codes and/or zoning regulations have become more limiting. I think you'll see things have become more restrictive - that's your tipoff.
Politics is BS - money rules what happens and doesn't.

In the case of some coastal cities, it would constitute urban improvements.

Because it is not a real threat. At least it won't be in your lifetime. If it is going to happen it will be because of a natural cycle. People are putting far to much energy into all this crap about global warming.

You did it now. Soon there will be many people answering this question telling you that the Bush administration caused global warming as a conspiracy to drown all the people on the coasts so that they can use those area for oil rigs or something. It's not going to happen....it's not a real threat, that's why.
