go to your local community college website and check their class listings under computer science - networking.
You will probably want some introductory course. If the listing shows a professor, do a search of the faculty e-mail listing and send the professor an e-mail asking if the class that you are considering would teach you what you want. If he says yes, then take the class.

If you want to learn, computer classes are part of College. If you do not want college, then buy their books. They have boks specially designed for Windows XP. My son takes the classes.
If you do a college on line, you will need XP professional, and Office 2003.
The other way, is to use help that is built into your computer. I am running Vista, and I have to use the help, and it always solves my questions.

I would suggest taking a class at the local 2-year technical college university, etc. in general there will be more hands on learning. but to be fair you would have to go and check out what is available in your area

You can also check to see if there are any local Computer user Groups\Clubs that welcome those wanting to learn.
Check the local Schools, Colleges, Computer Shops, etc. If there are any Clubs\Groups arinf they should know.
