Colonic irrigation does work and it does help to detoxify your body. Most people have a large amount of plaque (mucoid plaque) stuck to the lining of their colon. Over time, the plaque absorbs toxins and other waste that should be normally flushed out.
The Dr. makes a good point that a healty diet helps, but for many people, it is not that simple. Once the plaque is there, it needs to be flushed out with a colonic or "high enema." Plaque in our colons leads to al types of problems, from constipation to allergies and of course, colon cancer.
Colonics can help everyone. The standard American diet leads to almost 500,000 colonoscopies every year. That is when your colon becomes so badly blocked that it has to be removed and you have to wear a "bag" with tubing to collect your waste, for the rest of your life. Colonics can help that.
And it is also good for your liver and kidneys, to clear out toxins.

I did it once. It was a positive experience, and I felt better afterwards.
I have not heard of it helping it clear out addictions. Most of the addictions are in the brain receptors, so I don't see how cleaning your intestines could help.
I have heard that the anti-depressant Wellbutrin (also known as Zyban) can help with smoking, drinking and cocaine addictions.

This procedure does nothing. The chaps that do it wait until you leave the room, then they laugh for about an hour. Then they go to the bank and laugh some more.
The whole urban detox myth began in Edwardian times when' in affluent society' vegetables were considered common and the diet was very high in meat and sugar, but had little fibre. severe constipation ensued and purgatives and enemas were popular to 'clean you out'.
The modern diet if balanced clears the colon in 24 hours, making the process pointless and of course of no possible therapeutic value. It has never had any effect on addictions.

It is a controversial practice:
some swear that it helps detoxify,
others say that by going opposite the natural direction of the digestive tract it can lead to problems.

Don't take wellbutrin, otherwise happy people suddenly commit suicide when they take that garbage. Please do it the old fashioned way.... willpower. If I had some of that I would put down this cigarette. Try the gum or patches, just don't go messing with your brain chemistry, it's not worth the risk.
