I'm 12 years older than my girlfriend. I'm 41. We have been best friends for years. I want a long term relationship with her. Sex is good but its not everything. But I'm not him.

Well, I have to say that it does depends on what the mind set of the 34 and 20 year old have.
That age difference can be mind boggling if he is mature. There are some things that happens by living in the life at that time. Although one may not have experienced certain things, it is still beneficial to be born with in the same era and experience the mood of the time as opposed to reading about it.
There are some questions that you need to ask yourself. Why is he not with someone his own age? If you do not have sex with him, will he stick around? time can reveal a lot of things about a person eventhough they may state otherwise.

it really depends on the man.
By the time men get to their 30's, they've made mistakes, and have matured a lot more than they were at 20, and could have mature relationships ( normal ones), but there's also the possibility that a 34 year old man, could be looking for a "physical" relationship, rather than a "mature" relationship, like he might have with someone his own age.

Mostly it's about sex.
Very few 20 year olds are mature enough for a real committed relationship, and he knows that. I know for myself (I'm 34) if I were single and looking for a real relationship I'd steer clear of the 20 year olds.

It would be wrong to stereotype all older men or older women who date much younger people. Some 20 yr olds are quite mature and would be very compatible with an older man/woman. In another instance, you can find many 30-40 yr old women and men who are more immature acting than the 20 yr old! Perhaps in another 100 yrs or so, people in this country will get over their "age difference" hang ups......but I doubt it.
Bottom line is.....you are both adults....if you enjoy each others company.....then the hell with what I or anyone else thinks!!!!

I'm 32 and have a 21 year old after me. She is so immature that it disgusts me to think about it, however if a mature acting 20 year old comes along then I have no problem. You can work someone out pretty quickly, just make sure you keep the rose coloured glasses off

Not sure what he is looking for here, if he won't open up he must have something to hide. Could just be looking for a younger companion/partner or to prove he still has it. For this to work being open with each other is a must because a good relationship is built on trust.

It's all about the sex. Maybe not, but 9 times out of 10 he wants to get into her pants.

men are no different at 34 than they are at 24 except that they are slightly more open minded. a normal relationship or just a one night, the winning score is the same.

Of course he wants to get into her pants. That's what a normal relationship is to him.
