In the US it's legal to drive with a license from another country.

The first answer mentions an 'International License'. There is actually no such thing. What is commonly referred to as an international license is a document that contains a TRANSLATION of your drivers license into multiple languages. Without the Government issued license, it is not worth the paper it is printed on.

The UK appears to allow drivers licensed in other countries to drive subject to certain restrictions. The second link below looks to me to belong to be an UK government website on the issue.

EDIT:
After reading the answer about age, I did some more checking. It appears you must by 17 to drive anything other than a moped.

I'm driving in the US with a UK license... Am I on the right side of the road?

No. In the UK you need to be 17. It doesn't matter whether you have an American license. It'd be like a 16-year-old Briton expecting to be able to buy cigarettes in America because you can here.

Yes. You need to get a UK license OR, if the UK recognizes international licenses, you can get one of those.

there is a good reason why someone should find out the laws of a country before going there. what is there law about driving if it is older then 16 your **** out of luck. In alberta the age is 14 i believe, here in b.c. its 16. 16 is the law and it does not matter if yu have a licence from alberta and your under the age of 16.

I dont know about it being illegal or not but check your insurance policy. Most policies in the US only cover you if you are driving in the US or Canada. You would be uninsured driving in Europe. Good luck.
