I'm going out on a limb, here, and issuing an Old Wives Tale alert. That baking soda deal is nonsense. Sorry. My wife keeps in the 'fridge and freezer - still. Absolutely worthless.

I'm going with the "empty the thing" answer - you should do this every six months anyway and get rid of all the out-of-date pepperonis.

Then, I like the 409 that already has bleach in it. DO NOT ADD BLEACH to any cleaning compounds - can kill you, but, some of it comes with bleach mixed in.

Wash the removeable parts, shelves and all, in the sink, and clean everything left inside with thte 409. You will be SO happy.

Clean your fridge well with water and lemon juice, then put a fresh box of baking soda (opened, of course) inside. That aught to do it!

Removing kitchen and food odors: Soak pure vanilla on a cotton ball and place in a saucer. Put the saucer in the car or refrigerator to remove odors. Keep cotton ball out of reach of children as it contains some alcohol.

Oooh, yikes.

Remove everything from the fridge. Clean w/ whatever cleaner you like. Then add some Downy fabric softener to the rinse water and rinse it down, inside walls as well as shelves and drawers.
