I arrive April 9th in the early morning and will be there all day. So what should I definitely see?

BTW, the next day I'll be going to Manchester to see United vs. Roma :)

Go on the red double decker buses. That way you can SEE things as you go around (on the tube you don't see the landmarks).
London Eye is great for an over all view...about 30mins, plus any waiting time to get on it. Bigben/parliment and westminster abbey are just over the bridge so thats an easy walk to look at them. I enjoyed westminster abbey.... agian you have to wait in queues, btu you can have a quick look around there (eg 30mins)
Tower of London (very busy which is why I never went, but everyone reccommends its...get your ticket beforehand to save time)
DON"T bother with madam tuassand...waste of money as its expensive. Interesting but not essential.
St Pauls is interesting (altough I am not sure if its essential)
Seeing tower bridge is cool (but if you take the bus tour will see this as well as other sights like Buckingham palace, piccadily circus, and trafelgar square.
So once you get an idea of the layout you can walk around a bit too and get a feeling for the place.
Just seeing the archetecture etc is quite neat too.

St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abby. Also, the Royal Palace, London Tower (to see the crown jewels), and Downing Street.

This is a suggested Intinerary for one day in London. I'd skip the thater, though.
