Exactly. Well, not about the hell part. We are all destined to hell if we do not accept His Son, but that's another story.
If people would look at a vow as a promise for life and mean that, maybe they would think harder about making them. But what is the alternative? Most people want a relationship, sex, and some sort of commitment in order to feel secure. If you know God also frowns on living together, etc, then marriage is your only way to have a sexual relationship that God approves of.
We are afraid of vows, but we want the things married people have, so we take all the good fruit, then abandon the work when the fruit is gone. That's like eating food we find around but never planting any more.
Marriage is good for us because it is like a good meal. You work at it, then you enjoy eating what you prepared. Then you must make a new one several hours later - your whole life. If you just eat, you get fat and lazy and start whining about how others made your meal. You start seeking variety, a new cook, etc.
Vows have lost meaning to most people. But I do believe that at least at the time most people mean them. It's just that later, temptation speaks louder than commitment.
Kudos to you if you can go against the flow and stick it out when it seems better or easier to break your vows. If you are committed, most of the time you will find a way to make it work.

Vows is a verbal committment in public that you
state on the committment that you will give to each
other while married. The real solid foundation of
those vows comes from the heart and that part is
silent to where only you and your partner can hear
them. When your vows come from the heart then
that is the special bond between the two people
involved in marriage that no-one can penetrate.
The problems lies here in many vows that are said
in public because one or both of the parties are
not taking it from the heart of the matter.

No moreso than any other lie a person tells...I've believed for a very long time that marriage vows should read "as long as it is good and right for both" instead of "until death".
MUCH more realistic...and people wouldn't be breaking a vow by splitting up...not that vow breaking seems to stop anyone from divorcing...when it's not working, it's not working

Oh boy, you got a lot to learn. God is out there is true, but did God want you to be unhappy with your life. God put us down on this earth to work and to accomplish something in life. Not to be in a relationship to be unhappy. Religion has changed through out the years. Hell is just an expression. If you know your Philosophy you will know what I mean. Read on Locke and than answer your crazy religious talk.

If you are saying your vows and not believing them, you are already destined for hell.

Not everyone breaks them.Just half of the people that get divorices break them! no one really gets married because of love these days. Its more lust, because they always thougt they were in love, and never learned what love was!
And then there for they never take it really seriously
