I don't think it's fair that people are saying that people who watch soaps are people who have no lives, or they're anti-social or they're housewives who have nothing better to do. If you don't like soaps, that's fine, but don't pigeonhole people by what they watch, because not all people that watch fit into any of those categories. I'm a well rounded person with friends and school and a fledgling career who happens to like soaps.
What's the point of watching sitcoms? Or reality TV? Or a channel entirely dedicated to food and cooking? Everyone likes something different. Some people like to see campy daytime soaps with romance and mystery, and the suspense is something to look forward to. And with people who have too much going on in their lives, perhaps it's a chance to take their minds off of their own messes for an hour or so.

I used to be so addicted to Y&R and OLTL but I stopped watching because it was becoming so predictable. I watch because its funny to see people other than yourselves make complete fools of one another. A sort of what not to do guide. And for those of us with boring lives soaps bring a little drama into your life for 1 hour a day 5 days a week.

You know what "the hook" is. that's all.
After watching 75 episodes of Y&R, Victor
finally let that guy out of his dungeon.
Big deal. who cares. I should have been
trying to figure out Blondie in the local paper.
Made more sense than sensationalism.
