There are a few useful conversion factors you should commit to memory. One is 2.54 centimeters = 1 inch.
20 cm x 1 inch / 2.54 cm = 7.874 inches.
This is really close to 7.875 inches with is also expressed as 7 ⅞ inches.

Just set up a proportion.
If 1 cm equals 0.39 inches, then 20 cm equals how many inches?
1 cm / 0.39 inches = 20 cm / X inches
Cross multiply.
1X = (20)(.39)
X = 7.87
Therefore, 20 centimeters is 7.87 inches.
