Americans for the most part are "lemmings" following the "Ignorant and Uiniformed" The worst is that most of us believe what we see on the news channels and read in the papers. The U.S. is NOT the only nation to utilize propiganda against the ignorant majority, this happens around the globe. As long as an immediate law or ordinance does`nt interfere with their IMMEDIATE short range plans, then in their minds it does`nt affect them! Until AFTER the herd has been thinned and THEY are now the prey! But,it`s too late to ask for help now! All of the ones who COULD have helped you are GONE! See where we`re heading? The time is NOW to unite and take charge of our futures and our destinies! Under our current law AND the patriot act, I can be imprisioned for an indefinite period of time without the benefit of council just for implying the fore mentioned! YES! It`s true! But I don`t care, I`ve been battling these assholes forever and will continue to do so for as long as I live!

Oh, WE know about the atrocities perpetrated against us. We're just tough enough to take it and laugh and not whine like a bunch of little terrorist combatants. We love atrocities. Bring 'em on!

I think it is ignorance. The phrases "Ignorance is Bliss" and "No news is good news" subconciously control our thinking. We are so wrapped up in our trivial lives and the lives of celebrities (how many times have you heard of the Kid Rock-Pam Anderson breakup, Lohan/Duff catfight, or Britney dropping baby/stripping @ party/ shaving head/Federline brekup, as opposed to the genocide in Sudan). Bush givs tax breaks to the poor. UN, of which Bush is a member, calls the situation in Darfur a "cicvil war," since caling it a genocide means they hav to act. The Bush Administration are bullies, and UN is a bystander. Either Americans are aware, and are too busy hearing about Britney's latest escapade to care, or they are idiots who ONLY know about britney's latest escapade. But hey, welcome to the USA

We are all too aware of it, but there are certain steps that can and cannot be taken.. there's no way the everyday person can remove bush from office, legally, and our politicians, those who are supposedly representing us, are too big of cowards to do so. However, those same cowards are also the ones who are benefitting from his unpopularity, because they figure, since he can't be re-elected, his party's not got a chance because of him.
And don't forget, the congresscrooks and senators are just as culpable as he is.
As for that parenthetical remark up there, I think you are someone from out of the US who's probably a hatemonger and not a citizen but used that statement to mislead the citizens that you are sympathetic..

Because George Bush puts chemicals in our water that make us unaware of the atrocities. And to make us vote for Sanjaya.

Like what? Trying to liberate unappreciative third world countries from their murderous dictators? Trying to protect other countries from a nuclear attack from a radical upstart nation? Or not being a democrat? You had your chance to vote him out but the last election he won fair and square. Quit your liberal whining. Nobody said anything when FDR allowed the US to enter the European theater when Germany did nothing to provoke the U.S.

A good example would have been effective in your question; for what you describe as an atrocity others would believe is a great thing.
