it is baffling.
cheney made exactly such a claim last week on the jethro limbaugh radio show.
oddly, an intelligence report that was declassified stated the exact opposite.
could be that cheney has the least amount of credibility of any person in the nation when it comes to the war in iraq.
the guy simply has not been right about anything.

Because he wants to keep those 25% that still support the war, to continue supporting it.
As bad as Saddam was portrayed, one thing was certain: he executed terrorists. Terrorists were afraid to go near Iraq because of his regime.
Now, Iraq is a breeding ground for terrorists, besides the fact that 3200 of our men died there for no reason.
Well... the real reason, and everyone knows this and I'm going to state it once again, The Real Reason we're there is for Oil. Anyone who thinks our men are dying there for "freedom and liberty" is either close-minded or not informed.
Seriously people, at least accept the fact that this war is for corporate interests, and not for national interest (unless killing 3200 of our men is of national interest).

There are ties, they just aren't the type you are thinking of.
While Hussein and Al Quaeda never met and forged any alliances, they ARE tied together in a different manner.
That manner is ideology.
They both believed, that they had both the right and the responsibility to perform terrorist acts on the great evil that is the United States and to start the war of Islam vs. Christianity.

The only good thing Saddam was tied to was the fifteen feet of glorious rope around his neck.

Only people who get all their news from Move on.org think
that Saddam and AlQueda were not A..hole buddies.
There were training camps in Irak, and a ton of documents were found linking the two. But of course that's not important to the bash Bush crowd.

To speak to 'the base' supporters.
make them feel good.
He does not like the CIA or the intelligence community at large, does not trust them, so what they say is irrelevant, in his mind.

**** "I'M A WAR PROFITEER " Cheney made so much money with Haliburton on it the first time around that he has decided to give it another shot.
Remember - though he has made millions in war profiteering he is about to become -courtesy his Lesbian daughter and artificial insemination - a GRANDPA - and so needs a few more bucks.

Oh they talk - believe it! They are a team of liars - Bush says things to appeal to less rabid neocons and Cheney appeals to the true loonies. Its a strategy.
