I have a red eared slider and i just bought goldfish for it today,but it seems like it cant catch them.it seems the goldfish are too fast for him.what should i do?did i waste my money?also should i feed the goldfish while they are in there

If you don't feed the goldfish and a few of them die, your turtle will probably eat them then. Turtles, as a rule, don't exert any more energy than they need to in order to get a meal. Try him on slower food items such as earthworms, mealworms, pieces of fresh whole fish (NO hamburger!), and, yes, commercial floating turtle food pellets. Some will take canned dog food if it's put on a plate and set on their basking area; since their tongues are fixed in place, they'll fill their mouths and head for the water to swallow. Some will nibble on spinach or romaine lettuce leaves that you leave floating on the water's surface.

You should feed the goldfish fish flakes. And the turtle might not want to eat the fish. I've owned red eared sliders off and on my whole life. They were smaller ones. I've kept golfish in the same time... and they never got eaten. Except one time when I'd accidentally forgotten to feed the turtle and the fish for a few days, so the turtle had my fishie for lunch. :(
You never know. The turtle might eat the fish, it might not. You should buy turtle food. It comes in a little yellow and green can at walmart.

Goldfish are not the best food for turtles. They eat SOME fish, but not much. Shrimp, krill, worms, crickets, snails, etc. are better options.

Goldfish are poor in nutrition and high in fat. You should feed the turltes dry turtle food. I feed mine Wardley. They contain the adequate nutrition turtles need.

your turtle is probably depressed. Take it to the shrink for Prozac. That should help. I would feed the gold fish while you wait for the Prozac to kick in.
