The customers would never see their real faces and it would be a lot of fun. It would create a sense of mystery and fascination. In addition, it would protect their anonymity in case irate customers threatened them or something.

When I saw your question, I thought you were suggesting the masks to prevent the transmission of diseases! I was picturing the waiters and cooks going around in surgical masks! LOL! Actually, I kind of like your idea, maybe just on some occasions, not on a regular basis.

There is a restaurant in my town where they wear masks. I forgot the name of the place, but all the waiters dress up as fruits and vegatable and their faces are usually covered completely.

that's why if you going some restaurant regally you better off tip 15% or more, otherwise you will not know what going your mouth from your server
