i want to have the ç put on my college diploma but they said i have to file for a name change and show valid documents that also have this accented letter.. but the SS card and birth certificate dont have it either.. do i need to go to the courts to have a total name change to just get the accent mark?

If you want it on your diploma, then you will have to file the paperwork. Your colloege should have legal aid for students, consult them.

I think it will be easier to have a caligrapher alter your diploma after you recieve it.

I am sorry to tell you that even with a court order, you still may not be able to get your name changed on your Social Security card and birth certificate, because most computer databases in the United States can not handle special characters, including those used by Vital Records offices and the Social Security Administration. The only thing it -MAY- work for is your college diploma.

Yes you do....now the question you have to ask is if you really care about an accent mark because you certainly will have to go through some trouble for it.

Go to a meat packing plant and ask around. I'm sure you'll find someone who is an expert at getting your name changed. Birth certificate, drivers license, and SS card. Probably pretty cheap too!

you would need to contact an attorney who does name changes and they would have to go through the whole process to add the accent mark. So it really all depends on how much you want to spend and how much this means to you.
