I just saw a news story about the guy who is predicting that we'll have 17 hurricanes this year, but he says climate change is due to changes in ocean currents and that man made global warming is a red herring. "Natural changes in ocean currents are to blame for increased Atlantic hurricane activity in recent years, not man-made global warming as many scientists believe, hurricane forecaster William Gray said on Friday." So what does this say about Al Gore and all the other scientists. This guy also says " the work of scientific colleagues who have linked global warming and increased hurricane activity...were simply seeking grant money." So what am I supposed to think now. I've never heard about this. I thougth man made global warming was settled as fact. Now I'm confused. I have to write a paper and then this comes up. So now what do I do, what should I believe??? I really do need help with this.

In the mid 50s I learned that we were at the end of an ice age. It's still here, but ending never the less. We are in a climate change, but it's returning to normal. The arctic was a temperate zone before the ice age started. Global warming is the product of bad science. Used to extort grant money for research, and raise taxes for greedy politicians. All the ozone destroying chemicals you hear of are heaveyer than air. And can't posibly rise to those altitudes. If so there would be no polution in the cities, it would go into the troposphere. Greed, and power, that's what global warming is about. Google "bad science", and other related links.

Global warming is evident. Whether it is man made is not quite so evident. The fact is the earth has been getting warmer since the mini ice age of the 18 hundreds. It seems to me that man could not have had much influence on the earths cooling and warming trends in the late 18 hundreds.

Algore is an idiot to spread the crap he is spreading. Algore is using global warming as his own cash cow through the sale of carbon credits or offsets.

Based on weather history Hurricanes patterns seem to be cyclical. It looks like the north east coast, somewhere around New York City is over due. New York City was hit in 1938

read Michael Crichton ( Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park) "State of Fear" about the politics of global warming, grants, political correctness and all that.......

and then go to the National Hurricane Center web site ( www.nhc.noaa.gov) and look up number of storms per decade and you'll find that the most storms were in the 1940's-50's and since then number of hurricanes is going DOWN.

Hurricane formation is tied to sea surface temperatures. Air temperatures...especially 1 or 2 degrees difference, have little to do with hurricanes

Global warming is real, many wealthy who don't want changes in the economy are trying to write it off as a political scheme. Both congress and house have voted on a bill to stop global warming, however George Bush is trying to stop it, because he's an idoit and refuses to accept that humans could virtually destroy the world in only 100 years.

And remember what the prediction was for LAST year's hurricane season? And remember how many hurricanes actually hit the US?
There have been climate changes going on for eons -- there have been El Nino and La Nina going on for eons -- there have been advancing and retreating glaciers for eons.

The sky is not falling. At least not until the asteroid hits in 2012.

A scientific concensus does not necessarily mean fact. Remember that many years ago, they believed the earth was flat. However, that is clearly not the case.

The precise cause or causes for global warming will most likely not be discovered for some time. The best bet is just to listen to the various points of view, do some reading on your own, and choose which one makes the most sense to you.

They said that the 2006 season would be busier than 2005...but we didn't have many storms and none of them made landfall here in the U.S.

Bottom line is, if you live in Hurricane Alley, just be prepared.
