my husband might agree with you on that one. I think a better solution would be for parents to teach their children better values in life.

I agree that adulterers should be held responsible for their actions.I also think that cutting the finger off would be only the beginning. As someone mention before brand them with the scarlet red A on their forehead. I believe this persons picture should be placed on the front of all the local news papers so everyone can see and read about what they have done. If someone is so careless with their families emotions I think they should also sign away their parental rights to the other parent if kids are involved.

In this country with the ACLU lawyers, this would fall under unusual and cruel punishment and never happen. These lawyers are more concerned in re-establishing a criminals civil rights again then atonement for the victims. Many out here would probably like a harsher punishment like cutting off something else (Babbitt) but too many cry baby politicians in this country worrying about votes than stopping adultery and other crimes.

You people are nuts! Instead of cutting off fingers or branding A's on them, why not put a big F for FOOL on your own forhead. Everyone who has been cheated on knew at some point something was up but they chose to ignore the signs. Then when they find solid proof, they act like it's a shock. By ignoring things you contributed to it, so cut your own eyes out for shutting them after you cut off that cheaters finger.

the loss of a finger wouldn't begin to touch the pain they've caused. A branding, a tattoo - I'm a cheating whore on the forehead for all the world to see. That's where I would START.

The only problem is that 90% of the population wouldn't have a ring finger and they really wouldn't care. Now if we took away their PlayStation or designer bags now we would be getting somewhere.

WOW! That is some seriously ancient type punishment. It does seem a little brutal. I do think we are too lenient on crime, but does this fall in that category? Who would carry it out? Who would be the judge, jury, and would you have to catch them in the act so you were 100% sure? I would really need more specifics to say for sure:)

You sound like someone who is hurt and full of anger. You probably feel like cutting off someone's finger, the only thing is that vengeance never helped anybody before, only made life bitter. I think it's a nasty thought and it certainly won't bring you any peace to your mind. How about stopping being judgemental and minding your own business?

No, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. If you really wanted to stop adulterous behavior, that's not what I'd cut off. But there's no need to be punitive. What goes around comes around. It's called karma

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth punishment only creates a society of blind and toothless people. Violent solutions has never created the desired effect upon society.

Well, I don't think you could get anyone to carry out the sentence. According to today's US statistics, 50% of all men and 75% of all women have cheated.
