I just found an insect on my window sill. It's really tiny, almost can't see it, it's just under 1/16th of an inch long. It's an off white-ish color, almost looks clear. It's so tiny it's hard to tell, but it appears to have 6 legs. The front portion where the legs are is smaller than the back , about half the size in length and width.
My details might be off a bit because it is just so small.
I live in the upper portion of New York state.
Any idea of what this thing may be???

I've been checking out pictures based on what everyone here is suggesting (I posted the question 4 times). I think it may be a psocid or a termite. Still it doesn't seem to quite match, just sort of. I plan to bring it to the Entomology dept at the university near me on Monday if I don't figure it out by then. I'll let everyone know.

Definitely too small to be a termite and too small to be a silverfish. Sounds like it is a Midge if it is see thru and very tiny. Midges are in the Diptera family which is Flies/Mosquitoes.

Your myster insect is a silverfish. They are common to most of the U.S. They are relatively harmless, albeit very abundant and pesky; where there is one, there are bound to be others.
