You have to purchase the software to rip DVD's to your computer, you also have to have a computer that can read DVD's. The software is specifically made to convert ripped DVD data to iPod data.

Do a yahoo search for ipod converter a few of them will be able to record from a dvd disk to your computer then convert it for your ipod (unless you just want to copy the cd). you might find a few free ones but they will most likley cost around $25 - $30

you have to covert them to a file type supported by ipod, like mpeg 4, but there are others. It takes a long time to convert such a large file. Hope you have a big ipod.
