I am going to go old school - back in the 1970s - with George "The Animal" Steele vs. Andre the Giant. Before he became a cartoonish character, Steele was a crazed heel who would stop at nothing to destroy an opponent, with main events where both wrestlers would bleed profusely.

Andre was in his prime and was quite agile for someone so huge. It was at this time where a rumor - actually, a work - was floating that the Washington Redskins were going to sign him to a contract to play on the d-line.

They had a feud that was finally settled in a blood fest at Shea Stadium that was vicious, with the Giant winning. This match was more brutal than anything from ECW, including the Sabu-Funk barbed-wire match.
