The biggest problem is that a large portion of our workforce is illegal. Immigration is out of the government's control.

Different people object to immigrants for different reasons:
-Some object because they don't like foreigners and hearing foreign languages in their country.
-Some objects because global trade has cut the number of American manufacturing jobs drastically
-Some object because illegal entry into the country exposes how weak the security is on our borders.
-Some object because the immigrants are not treated fairly and are not protected by US safety and wage laws.

Illegal immigration is politically hot because not everyone views it in the same way. Before the US government can act they must bring the public to a uniform understanding of the problem.
