When skin stretches it causes stretch marks, I have 3 children & pregnant with 4th child. You can reduce the apperance of stretch marks by using such oils like cocoa butter, mederma, and other herbal oils, but they wont go away completely. Scratching while pregnant doesnt cause stretch marks but what you're doing when you scratch your belly while is stretching is making them worse. When you scratch while your belly is stretching your irritating your skin more, you're scratching in between stretched skin and that only makes more scarring on your belly. I hope my opinion helped a little.
Good Luck! & Congrats...

Symptoms & Solutions

Stretch Marks:
They're the classic mark of maternity. What causes stretch marks, and what you can do about them.

What they stretch marks: Those red, pink, or purplish streaks that appear across your belly, hips, thighs, and breasts during pregnancy. They're more pronounced on fair-skinned women.

What causes them: The stretching of your skin to its earthly limits, plus a range of other factors, from heredity (if your mother had them, you'll probably get them, too) and the rate at which you gain your pregnancy weight (as well as how much you gain).

What you need to know about them: Ninety percent of pregnant women get stretch marks, and there's no proven way to treat them or to stop them from snaking their way across your body. Fortunately, they won't keep their Technicolor look long; after delivery, they'll eventually fade to a less noticeable silvery gray.

What to do about stretch marks:
Moisturizers, such as cocoa butter, certainly won't hurt (but they aren't the miracle cure they're touted as). If nothing else, they'll help with the dryness and itching associated with pregnancy-stretched skin. Plus, it's fun to have your partner rub them into your belly.
Want to keep the marks to a minimum? Put your pounds on slow and steady, instead of in big spurts. Eating the best diet possible may also help keep your skin toned — and less subject to stretch marks.
Your dermatologist can tell you about treatments such as Retin-A or laser therapy — two solutions you can consider postpartum. (Neither are appropriate for pregnancy — plus, the stretching ain't over till it's over.)

It's probably just your skin type. Some girls get them on their boobs even if they grow only a little. You can always try rubbing oils on your stretch marks or buy special creams and serums for it. And maybe lose some weight if you are over weight? I'm sure your beautiful the way you are but it's not healthy to be too overweight:/ just make sure your comfortable in your own skin

Stretch marks appear after your body loses or gains weight due to the elasticity in your skin. Saying it simple is when your weight changes your bodys shape, your skin will change with it. Enter stretchmarks. If you're young and lose or gain weight, your skin will cope with weight loss and maybe the marks will fade in time after being a certain weight for a long time. The older you get the less elastic your body becomes. (imagine a balloon filled tight with air. Eventually, it will shrink and get wrinkly as its mass (of air, helium, ect) deflates.) It's just your skin expanding or getting tighter. There are creams to buy for stretchmarks....but those marks are scar tissue....I wouldn't try creams except for lotion. I would put up with them until you have gotten to your goal weight. See how your skin reacts.

No...it's a wives tale. If skin stretches very fast, it often times does not have the ability to keep up with the growth. That's all. Scratching will not affect it.
